The 49ers’ rushing attack is not performing at the same level that it’s used to in the Kyle Shanahan era so far in the 2025 NFL season.

“I’m not too concerned with the run game, but I’d like to get more production,” Shanahan told reporters before Wednesday's practice in Santa Clara.

San Francisco was held to just 77 rushing yards against a New Orleans Saints defense that allowed 146 rushing yards to the Arizona Cardinals the week prior.

Through the first two weeks, the 49ers are averaging just 98 rushing yards per game, which ranks 22nd in the NFL. Their 3.16 yards per carry is the third lowest in the NFL.

Shanahan attributes the lower numbers to the defensive styles the 49ers have faced in the first two weeks.
