SAN FRANCISCO — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a recall of imported cookware that may “leach significant levels of lead into food” Friday.

The recalled products, made from aluminum, brass, and aluminum alloys known as Hindalium/Hindolium or Indalium/Indolium, may still be sold in stores since the FDA “could not identify and contact the distributor or responsible party to facilitate a recall.”

The brands Tiger White, Silver Horse and JK Vallabhdas are impacted. The items include utensils, milk pans and Mathar Kadais, a type of Indian cooking pot with a hammered texture. The FDA says these products may not be the only ones impacted and they will update their recall if others test positive for lead.
