A judge in Virginia sent the so-called ding-dong-ditch shooting case to a grand jury Wednesday after new evidence was presented in court.

Tyler Chase Butler is charged with second-degree murder for the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Bosworth Jr. early May 3 in Spotsylvania County.

Bosworth was with two other people who told police they were ringing doorbells, running away and recording homeowners’ reactions for social media.

Butler’s mother told a 911 dispatcher she was scared three people were trying to break into her home at 3 a.m. In the background of that 911 call played in court Wednesday, Butler can be heard saying one of the people was “reaching for something.”
