ORONO -- The Maine Women's Soccer team is coming off of back-to-back America East championships and are aiming at a three-peat this season.

Maine has started their campaign against some stiff competition, including the likes of UConn and Army, but head coach Scott Atherley says playing tougher opponents early on as only helped this team grow.

"I think growth," said Atherley. "Teams like UCONN and Boston University and some of the other teams that we've are really going to reveal what you're good at and the things that you need to be better at. And I think the consensus of our group is that you'd rather play teams like UCONN so you have a little better understanding of what our capabilities are."
