LAUREL, Md. (DC News Now) -- A new program in the City of Laurel has a goal of teaching high school students all about drone technology.
“I am looking forward to learning about drones because I don't know much about it,” said 16-year-old Robyn Wood.
Wood is one of several high school students in Laurel who will participate in the drone program.
“I was very excited when I saw this program because it will be good for STEM careers and applying for colleges on my resume,” Wood said.
Mayor Keith Sydnor says the City of Laurel is teaming up with New Jersey company Alpha Drone USA, which will provide drones and expertise for the program. It offers students ages 16 to 18 the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with drones.
