SHREVEPORT, La. - A proposal to drill for natural gas at the long-vacant Shreveport Country Club has sparked concern among residents in the nearby Country Club Hills neighborhood.
Houston-based APEX Natural Gas is behind the proposed project. While drilling is common in the ArkLaTex, neighbors say the company hasn’t been transparent about its plans. Residents want to know how many wells could be drilled, how long operations will last and what safety measures will be in place.
Three wells are currently planned, including one on the Country Club property. However, no permits have been filed yet.
Residents say they received letters about leasing mineral rights, followed by meetings where company representatives shared maps and drilling details. But some attendees say the information was in
