BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — COVID-19 cases are on the rise, and a new strain might hit harder than before.
"We've always had a challenge here in Louisiana with COVID, even since the inception," said My Doctors House owner Dr. Paulette Grey.
It's no secret that Louisiana has battled some of the highest COVID-19 rates in the country, and more than five years after the first case, infections are on the rise again.
"I think what we're seeing now is probably a replication of what we saw in the beginning," said Grey.
Grey says students heading back to classrooms and dorms means we'll see more coronavirus cases.
"We know because COVID is a respiratory illness that the proximity or how close each person is to someone else has a lot to do with how the virus moves about," said Grey.
