MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — After more than two decades, a Mobile minor league hockey team will lace its skates up in 2027.

Locals told News 5 they are excited for the comeback in the Port City.

“I think it's a wonderful idea. Everything that makes our city grow is fantastic," Liliana Perelman said.

“I would definitely attend; I think it'd be a great addition," Jordan Mixon said.

“It's great for the economy and Mobile and (will) bring in a lot more revenue and like sports tourism," Kelley Courtney said.

Some locals have been waiting for the announcement for years.

“I've been living in Mobile for about four years now, and I'm used to having to drive an hour and a half to go see the Biloxi Breakers play," Julian Hays said.
