MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile police are investigating after two tarantulas were stolen from a pet store on Tuesday night and mysteriously returned the next morning.

Two Red Rump Tarantulas were taken from B&B Pet Stop on Cottage Hill Rd., just before closing Tuesday night.

Supervisor at B&B Pet Stop, Jonathan Lough said tarantulas can be fascinating pets, though they aren’t for everyone.

“Tarantulas are an arachnid… different than spiders. They are much larger, they're hairy,” Lough said.

The spiders were part of starter kits that typically sell for about $120 each. Surveillance photos show two of the kits inside the cart of one of the suspects.
