COON RAPIDS — Former Staples-Motley High School and North Dakota State University graduate Andrew Israelson finished second after a playoff in the Minnesota Section PGA Assistant Championship Monday, Sept. 15, at Bunker Hills Golf Club.
Israerlson fell to Trey Fessler of Albany, who dropped a 30-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole.
“I saw [Israelson] putt from about 8 feet farther than me on the same line and it didn’t move,” Fessler said of his tournament-clinching putt to MGA reporter Nick Hunter. “I played it left-center and thankfully it lipped in left edge because it would’ve been 10 feet by.
“I just stayed with it this week—it wasn’t my best golf. I like to use the term gamer, and I enjoyed the test and it’s fun to finally win here.”
