MOUNT HOREB, Wis. (WMTV) - A group of concerned community members gathered in Mount Horeb Wednesday evening to discuss the future of their historic town.
The meeting was the next step in their effort to stop a new apartment building from being built downtown. The Village Board of Mt. Horeb has a planning commission that will review the construction proposal at their October meeting.
The contracting group, JG Development bought property on Main Street, right in the center of the town’s historic landmarks. They are proposing building a four-story, 66 unit building.
Many Mt. Horeb citizens felt this kind of project would bring unnecessary change to their charming downtown, and have been consistently increasing their effort to have their voices heard.
