CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The family of a man who was shot and killed last week held a vigil on Wednesday.
23-year-old Dedric Arnold was shot and killed while approaching a home in the 100 block of 27th Street NE. Arnold later died. Prosecutors charged Kaleek Lewis with first-degree murder in the case.
Dozens of friends, family, and loved ones gathered at the place where Arnold was gunned down last week.
“He lived to be the father to his daughter,” said Dedric’s mother, Danielle Arnold. “He was goofy, he was fun-loving, and he lit up any room when he walked in.”
Danielle was at work when she said one of Dedric’s good friends called to tell her that her son had been shot.
“Right now, what’s going through my head is that I need to stay strong for my family and for my son,” she said.
