Alaska’s congressional delegation has returned to Washington after the August recess, where members spent time traveling across the state and speaking with residents. U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan sat down with Your Alaska Link’s Trill Gates to discuss recent events and priorities in Congress.

Sullivan began by reflecting on the recent assassination of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk. He attended Kirk’s memorial service and recalled an important message shared during the ceremony.

“Let’s have a debate, let’s make sure it’s civil,” Sullivan said. “I’m not going to attack you as some kind of evil person, but let’s have a discussion.”

The senator also addressed ongoing challenges in Juneau, where glacial outburst flooding has repeatedly impacted residents in the Mendenhall Valley.
