MOUNT ULLA — Down 4-0 in the second half, it looked bleak for East Rowan’s soccer team, but the Mustangs rallied to beat West Rowan 5-4 in overtime.

It was a critical win for East, as it allowed the Mustangs to stay in contention, one game behind Salisbury and Concord, the two teams that remained undefeated in the South Piedmont Conference on Tuesday.

East (7-1-1, 2-1) got two goals from Noah Dillon and one each from Matthew Avalos, Patrick Sanchez and Albert Romero.

Sanchez was credited with an assist. George Nunez made eight saves.
