HOUSTON — A Houston firefighter who suffered a medical emergency while transporting a patient has died, according to the Houston Fire Department.

On Sunday, Stephen Scott of Station 102 was in the process of transporting a patient to HCA Kingwood when he began experiencing a medical issue. He was admitted to the same hospital.

Doctors later determined Scott needed to be transferred by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann in the Texas Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.

The Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association said Scott died Wednesday from "resulting complications."
