ESCANABA — Tuesday night’s volleyball matchup between Escanaba and Negaunee went the distance as the Eskymos defeated Negaunee after dropping the first two sets 23-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-15, 15-10 in non-conference action.

In the first set, Escanaba senior Ava Stalboeger had a kill to tie the game at six. The Miners answered with a six-point serving run taking a 13-6 lead on an ace by junior Izzy Francisco.

The Miners extended the to 15-7 but the Eskymos scored nine of the next 10 points including a pair of aces in a five-point scoring run by senior Chloe Dubord to tie it at 16.

The Miners took the lead back as they scored six of the next seven points. The Eskymos did not give up, Brooklyn Beauchamp had an ace to cut the deficit to 22-19. The Eskymos pulled within one on an ace by Stalboe
