The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has issued a warning to motorists who are being "targeted" by fraudsters. Last year, approximately 20,000 people reported fraudulent activities from scammers posing as the authority.
In a recent post on social media platform X, the DVLA stated: "Scammers are targeting drivers with fake texts and emails pretending to be DVLA." The agency encouraged people to "think before you click" and to never "share personal info".
On the Government's official website , the DVLA warned that con artists are using "more sophisticated ways" to deceive their victims. It emphasised: "It has never been more important for motorists to be vigilant and aware of how to recognise fraudulent emails, texts, websites and calls."
