For six weeks before it happened, there had been rumors that Kirk Fridrich might step away from the Union football program.
On Dec. 4, it happened.
“I want to take some time off,” Fridrich told the Tulsa World, “but I want to coach football again.”
It seemed at the time that Fridrich had pressed the pause button on his Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame career.
Now, the 57-year-old Fridrich’s pause actually may be a retirement.
“I’m not sure whether I’ll ever coach again, (and yet) I still want to learn and get fresh ideas,” he said this week. “I still want to be around the game.
“Here’s what I enjoy: On Saturday mornings, I can sit on the back porch and read the paper. I can watch (ESPN’s) ‘College GameDay’ and then watch games all
