The City of Brandon is contributing an additional $200,000 to the Park Community Centre redevelopment project at the request of the provincial government.

Council voted Monday to add the funds to the $1.2 million the city is already providing for work on the centre. The additional funding will be allocated through the 2026 budget.

“This was a request from the province to move this Park Community Centre and the daycare project to its last stage before going out to tender,” Coun. Kris Desjarlais (Ward 2) said at the meeting.

“We’re that close — they just needed the extra funds from the city.”
