SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) - Governor Jeff Landry said the public can expect to see "the worst of the worst criminals" being housed at the new ICE detention center at Angola prison.

The Department of Homeland Security released the names and criminal history of the 51 immigrants currently detained at where Governor Landry dubbed Louisiana Lock Up.

The DOJ refers to the inmates as criminal illegal aliens. 26 are convicted of murder, eight convicted of rape, eight convicted for sexual exploitation of a minor, and nine convicted of sexual assault of a minor.

The DOJ says the partnership with the state of Louisiana allows ice to expand detention space by up to 416 beds.
