FORESTVILLE, Md. — Longfields Elementary School will be closed Thursday, as WSSC Water works to repair a water main break just two blocks away.

The Forestville school sent out an email to families just before 7:30 a.m. announcing the closure.

WSSC Water said it is repairing a 16-inch water main break at 7503 Marlboro Pike, which is just a five-minute walk from the elementary school. The water company said people in the area will lose water service while they work to fix the problem.

There is no estimate on how long it will take to repair the water main break, though WSSC Water says it is working as quickly as possible.

Longfields Elementary teaches students from kindergarten through sixth grade.
