COLD SPRING, Wis. — Two people are dead after an SUV and semi-tractor trailer crashed on CTH N, just south of Carnes Rd. in the Town of Cold Spring Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a 911 call about a two-vehicle fatal crash at approximately 2:22 p.m.

Deputies on scene learned that the semi-tractor trailer was traveling north when it started veering into the east side gravel shoulder. The driver then overcorrected onto the road and crossed the centerline into the southbound lane.

An SUV was traveling southbound at the time and tried to make an evasive maneuver, but was ultimately struck by the semi tractor trailer.
