PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Prince George's County Public Schools announced that Longfields Elementary School will be closed on Thursday.

This comes after a water main broke in the Upper Marlboro area.

WSSC Water told DC News Now that the break happened around 12:30 a.m. near the 7500 block of Marlboro Pike.

As of Thursday morning, over a dozen valves needed to be closed, and crews were working to shut off water in the area. Once this happens, the water near the broken pipe will need to be pumped down, before crews can begin digging to repair the pipe.

Along with the elementary school, the break is also impacting the Forestville Healthcare Center, and about 427 units at the District at Forestville Apartments.

"We are delivering water now to the healthcare center.
