GANTT, S.C. (WBTV) - An elderly married couple was found dead in the front yard of a South Carolina home this week.

The man and woman were found shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17 after dispatchers received a 911 hangup call.

After the caller hung up, deputies with the went out to a house on in the Gantt area. When they got there, they found both the man and woman with at least one gunshot wound.

Deputies said a gun was found at the home, but did not say if they knew who the shooter was. They also did not immediately say what might have led up to Wednesday’s shooting.

Sister-station reported that the man and woman were identified as Webster Stanley Jones and Catherine Knight Jones. Both were 84 years old. Records showed they lived at the house where their bodies were fou
