Bhatkal: Two people were killed and more than eight others sustained injuries when a bus and a lorry collided head-on on National Highway 66 near Kanchanabagilu in Ankola taluk of Uttara Kannada district. The accident occurred on Thursday morning.
According to police, a lorry heading towards Yellapur was being driven at high speed when it suddenly collided with an oncoming KSRTC bus. The lorry driver and Bhaskar Pandurang Ganavkar, a resident of Keni who was traveling in the bus, died on the spot.
The injured were rushed to Ankola Taluk Hospital for first aid and later shifted to Mangaluru for advanced treatment due to their critical condition.
Upon receiving information, Ankola Police visited the spot, registered a case, and have begun an investigation.
