K-9 helps nab suspect in attic as Springfield PD seizes drugs, AK assault rifle, $7K in cash

SPRINGFIELD ― A police dog helped authorities sniff out an attic hideout, an AK-style assault rifle and more than 600 bags of heroin mixed with fentanyl during early morning warrant executions Wednesday.

Vidal Hernandez-Vazquez, 19, of Indian Orchard, Idaliz Maisonet, 47, of Springfield, and Rebecca Pachot, 45, of Springfield, are facing several charges, including trafficking cocaine and fentanyl, planning to sell a Class A drug, and conspiracy to break drug laws.
