CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Sesame Place San Diego in Chula Vista made an abrupt announcement on social media that it’s transitioning to a new seasonal schedule. Sept. 21 will be the last day the park is open for the season until it reopens in spring 2026.

In a statement released by Sesame Place, officials said, “By focusing on our most popular times of year, we can deliver the best possible experience from the moment guests arrive until the moment they leave.”

“What the heck?” asked Cindy Wang. She and her family are season pass holders and take their 3-year old daughter once a month.

Frustrated parents took to social media to complain about having to reschedule flights, trips and plans they already booked for the holidays.

“I just wish they’d been more transparent,” said Wang
