SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A new affordable housing development is officially underway in Pacific Beach, as officials broke ground this week on Rose Creek Village, a 59-unit apartment complex designed to serve low-income individuals and veterans experiencing homelessness.

Located just two miles from the beach and a mile from a major transit center, Rose Creek Village is being hailed as a model for addressing San Diego’s housing crisis through smart, community-focused development.

“Projects this extraordinary only happen when we come together as a community and work together to get this done,” said San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria. “I think this is really exciting, and it’s a template for what we ought to be doing more of in our community.”
