A vigil is being held on Sunday, Sept. 21 in Monroe to honor the memory of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

A candlelight vigil including prayer, music, and Bible-reading will begin at 5 p.m. at Loranger Square in downtown Monroe.

"Our focus is going to be on his Christian values and the way he always spoke about his faith," said one of the organizers, Pansy Heath.

Tyler Robinson, 22, has been accused of assassinating Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, on Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

The Monroe County Republican Party is hosting a Charlie Kirk gala on Nov. 22 at the River Raisin Banquet Center.
