PHOENIX — Erika Kirk, widow of the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has been elected the new CEO and board chair of Turning Point USA.
The organization, which has a headquarters based in Phoenix, announced Thursday that Erika Kirk had been unanimously elected as the new board chair.
"Charlie prepared all of us for a moment like this one. He worked tirelessly to ensure Turning Point USA was built to survive even the greatest tests," Turning Point USA's board members wrote in a statement.
Kirk had expressed a wish to have his wife take over in the event of his death, according to Turning Point USA. Kirk, 31, was assassinated while speaking on a Utah college campus on Sept. 10.
A memorial for Charlie Kirk is scheduled to take place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on Sept. 21.
