As a member of the West Valley Investigative Response Team, the Peoria Police Department has taken over the investigation into the Avondale Police Department officer involved shooting that occurred Sept. 16.

Just after 1:30 p.m., officers with the Avondale Police Department responded to a call for service near 125th Avenue and Elwood Street, in Avondale. A 911 call was received from an unidentified male who reported observing an armed, shirtless person. The caller abruptly disconnected the call before providing any more information.
