NORRISTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -- State lawmakers received a first-hand look at one of Pennsylvania's two forensic psychiatric hospitals Wednesday.

The House Majority Policy Committee and Mental Health Caucus held a joint roundtable and tour at the sprawling Norristown State Hospital.

Opened in 1880, the institution in suburban Philadelphia is one of six state hospitals left in Pennsylvania and one of two forensic psychiatric hospitals, the other being Torrance State in western Pennsylvania.
