State Senator Dylan Fernandes testified before the Joint Committee on Transportation on Wednesday in support of S.2394, an act restoring commuter rail to Cape Cod. The bill would establish year-round daily service between Buzzards Bay and South Station.
This legislation, filed by Fernandes, directs the MBTA and MassDOT to provide consistent service between Boston and Buzzards Bay. South Coast Rail Phase 1 now runs through the new Middleborough station, and S.2394 calls for a feeder train from Buzzards Bay to Middleborough during peak morning and evening commuting times so residents can connect directly with commuter rail.
