RACINE, Wis. (WKOW) — Microsoft officials have announced a significant $4 billion investment to expand its data center campus in Mount Pleasant.
This expansion brings Microsoft's total investment in Wisconsin to more than $7 billion, aiming to establish the world's most powerful AI data center.
A recent analysis from Clean Wisconsin revealed the unprecedented energy demand from the data centers, with two projects — one in Mount Pleasant and a Vantage data center in Port Washington, requiring a combined 3.9 gigawatts of electric power. That's enough energy to power 4.3 million Wisconsin homes, according to Clean Wisconsin.
