Syracuse, N.Y. - Firefighters rescued an elderly woman from a house fire in Syracuse’s East Side early Thursday morning.

At 12:19 a.m., Syracuse firefighters responded to the fire at 308 Albert Road, according to a news release from Syracuse Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Erik Caster.

Flames were coming out of the second floor when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters were told there was an elderly woman still inside the house, Caster said.

While firefighters searched for the woman, others found heavy fire in the kitchen area and worked to extinguish it.

Firefighters found the woman and took her to an American Medical Response ambulance. Caster said her condition is unknown at this time.
