SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. — A man accused of stealing a woman’s car with her 1-year-old daughter in the backseat, triggering an Amber Alert, appeared in court Thursday and was given a $500,000 secured bond, according to court documents.

Tyler Ray Toodle, 26, faces multiple charges, including felony kidnapping, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, reckless driving, driving with a revoked license, resisting a public officer, and misdemeanor child abuse.

Authorities said Toodle took Iris Everly Fargis and fled in a stolen black Honda Civic, driving more than 15 mph over the speed limit while evading deputies. The car had been reported stolen in Randolph County.
