Members of the Barrington Town Council are exploring the idea of ripping up a brand new fence that was recently installed at the Haines Park softball field before a single game is played there.
At a meeting on Monday night, Sept. 8, Councilor Kate Berard asked town officials to get a price estimate for expanding the fence around the softball field at Haines Park so that high school and adult leagues could use it. The field had been used primarily by Little League softball teams in the past.
Barrington Town Manager Phil Hervey and DPW Director Alan Corvi cautioned Berard and other councilors that the softball field work was nearly complete and that relocating the fence — expanding the field dimensions from about 200 feet down the foul lines to 250 or 300 feet — could car
