I’m frustrated with politicians who say one thing and do the exact opposite. Particularly irritating are American politicians who purport to be Christian, quoting scripture, touting “family values,” and declaring their devotion to God and country. Yet when their actions are held against the moral framework of their faith, the contradictions are glaring.

One framework that encapsulates the moral teachings involves contrasting the “seven deadly sins” of pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth with their opposing “seven heavenly virtues” of humility, charity, chastity, kindness, temperance, patience, and diligence.
