COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus mother is facing charges after police said her 9-month-old son was severely injured in an incident in Italian Village on Wednesday.

The Columbus Division of Fire was called to the 900 block of North 4th Street just after 5 p.m. Arriving medics found the 9-month-old in critical condition.

The 9-month-old was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Documents from Franklin County Municipal Court state that the child suffered multiple traumatic injuries.

Because of the severity of the child’s injuries, the Columbus Police Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.

Court documents state that the child’s mother, identified as 30-year-old Billie Tustin, admitted to throwing her son across the room. The child landed on his head on the floor.
