Bear Warriors United filed a second lawsuit on Sept. 17 against the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as the group continues its fight to stop a scheduled Florida black bear hunt in December.

Bear Warriors United had already filed a lawsuit in administrative court to try and block the controversial hunt but withdrew that petition for strategic reasons, according to one of the group’s attorneys. The Conservation Commission had countered that it was not subject to "administrative rule challenges."

Bear Warriors United filed the new lawsuit in Circuit Court in Tallahassee. The lawsuit argues that the conservation commission's approval of the bear hunt violates Florida's constitution and asks a court to issue an injunction to stop the December hunt.
