AUTAUGA COUNTY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - Court filings are revealing a possible motive after a man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly firing multiple shots, hitting a medical helicopter and one of the medics onboard as it was responding to an emergency call.

The filings indicate Peter Ellison, 48, fired multiple shots at what he believed was a drone. In actuality, it was a Haynes LifeFlight medivac helicopter.

Autauga County Sheriff Mark Harrell said the incident happened around 4:20 a.m. in the area of County Road 51. That’s where volunteer firefighters had set up a landing zone in an open pasture.
