A 22-unit, two-storey townhouse complex proposed for the south side of Thorold Road in Welland has moved closer to approval, with the developer aiming to offer homes slightly more attainable than traditional townhouse builds.
Upper Canada Consultants’ planning manager, William Heikoop, said during a public planning meeting Tuesday the build at 519 Thorold Rd. will feature townhouses without garages.
“This is a form of development I’ve done before, where not having a garage you significantly reduce the building costs of the unit. Therefore, we’re able to bring the purchase price of them down considerably,” said Heikoop.
He said the builder, 1001133976 Ontario Inc., will still have the required number of parking spaces on site — 25 general parking spaces and two barrier-free parking space
