BEREA, Ohio -- An intoxicated Middleburg Heights man, 39, was arrested and taken to Southwest General Health Center Sept. 12 after he tried to grab a police officer’s weapon outside Eastland Inn, 33 Eastland Road.

Police and paramedics were called to Eastland Inn at about 9:30 p.m. The man, a bar employee, wasn’t making sense and was unable to form a complete sentence.

The man’s coworkers told police that the man had received bad news about a family member.

They said he walked downstairs acting normally, but when he appeared upstairs again he was acting strangely.

His coworkers thought he was having a stroke.

Police saw the man near the side entrance to Eastland Inn. He was leaning against another man and seemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

He couldn’t speak.
