The First Peoples’ Performing Arts Festival is returning to the Royal Theatre in Gananoque from October 3-5.

“We are pleased to be having so many gifted artists from so many disciplines joining us for this year’s First Peoples’ Performing Arts Festival,” said Shanski Oli, festival organizer. “It has grown and developed and matured every year, and we are happy to share our culture with the local community.”

The local festival originated in 2017, the sesquicentennial of Confederation, as local Christian churches began to make amends for the horrors perpetrated against the First Peoples, especially through the residential schools.
