FRANKLIN, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Macon County Sheriff’s Office reports an airplane accident occurred next to Iotla Valley Elementary School on Thursday.
The Federal Aviation Administration said a Cirrus SR22T crashed in a field around 3 p.m. with three people on board.
Macon County dispatch reports that an EMS responder on scene said there were no survivors.
Macon County Schools said that all students and staff at the elementary school are safe and that the incident did not occur on campus.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol, FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
