BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Lockport man was convicted of second-degree murder after he killed a man in July 2023, the Niagara County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday.

A jury also found 24-year-old Joshua Chandler guilty of first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The shooting occurred on July 2 near the intersection of Walnut and Locust Streets in Lockport. Rakeem Hamilton, 27, was killed in the shooting and another person was seriously injured.

“This defendant opened fire with an illegal handgun on a car full of people over some dispute with the driver," Niagara County District Attorney Brian Seaman said.
