BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) — The Bradenton Police Department said a man was arrested Sunday after he was caught doing a burnout to "impress girls" at a red light while driving under the influence.

Officers with the department's crime reduction team said they were patrolling 12th Street in downtown Bradenton when they heard a vehicle revving its engine.

Soon after, police said they saw a silver pickup truck barreling southbound at a high speed.

The driver, identified as 28-year-old Juan Leon, swerved to avoid the officers and pedestrians but was stopped at a red light at Manatee Avenue, the police department said.

"That's when Mr. Leon opted to do a burnout," Bradenton police posted on Facebook.

Leon reportedly told officers he did a burnout "to impress girls."
