NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - What began as a small, local mission 16 years ago has grown into a network for animals and their owners.
It’s a community effort to not only do some good but also relieve pressure from the animal shelter.
“My son used to bring home hurt animals, no matter what kind it was. ‘Mama fix it, Mama fix it.’ When he passed away, I searched my soul. What could I do in honor of him? That’s when I came up with opening a rescue,” said Nancy Kay, Southern Souls Rescue, owner.
But over the years, they’ve built national relationships. Their latest shipment with Chewy distributed more than 25,000 pounds of pet food to local organizations.
