Four students from Sampson County have been selected as part of the fourth cohort of the NC State Transformational Scholarship program. Sampson had the highest number of students selected this round.

On Sept. 2, NC State University released the list of students selected, consisting of 14 students from the eastern North Carolina area. Three of the students are part of the Sampson County Schools system and one is a Clinton High School student. These students are Alondra Acosta of Midway High School, Daniel Aguilar and Heily Avila Ponce of Hobbton High School, and Brianna Jackson of Clinton High School.

Acosta shared, “Being around younger kids has been something I’ve always enjoyed. Having caring and helpful teachers growing up made a huge impact on why I wanted to become a teacher. I had
