BERLIN, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - On Thursday, the Town of Berlin announced that residents in the areas of the Berlin Mall, Airport Road, and Berlin Corners are now required to conserve water until further notice.

The notice does not apply to residents downhill along U.S. Route 302.

Residents in those areas are now forbidden from watering outdoor lawns and gardens, washing their own vehicles, or filling pools, hot tubs, and fountains.

Much of Central Vermont is seeing water shortages as a result of the current drought. The Berlin notice comes alongside a separate voluntary water conservation notice for the entire City of Montpelier. Residents of Plainfield were also asked to use less water on a voluntary basis earlier this week.
